tweakerfreakerflyer.jpgOur pals over at Tweaker Zine (a splendid online skate mag) are putting on an exhibition at Slam City (a splendid skate shop in London’s Covent Garden) from the 16th of this month until the 16th of November. So if you want to be knee deep in mutual appreciation and experience the Cheers-like atmosphere of London’s premiere skate emporium then be there at the opening.

Ignorance Is Bliss

thejoyful.jpgShort notice I know, but The Joyful Bewilderment ’private’ view is tomorrow night at Rough Trade East. Featuring the work of French, James Jarvis, Toby Shuall, Ben Javens and a rack load of other dudes and dudettes, the exhibition runs until the 27th of October and looks rather good. You should just go there and see it, rather than trying to make out the names of the other artists showing from this 72dpi flyer.

Like Great Expectations, But Different, And Better

astro-boy.jpgTrain stations are horrible places at the best of times. Sweaty carriages full of people, people you would gladly sacrifice just to have a seat. Trains are always late and there is always someone who wants to rob your phone. But at least in Japan they make it look a bit nicer, making Astro-boy from 138,000 re-used train tickets for Tokyo’s new Fukutoshin subway line. I don’t really know where that is in Japan, but it’s still pretty cool because it was done by volunteers, for nowt!

Now a quick history lesson, Astro-Boy was the first creation of the popular genre that is now known as Anime. He had pretty standard powers, super hearing, super strength and flight, but no one really cared because he was a robot, which made him a leper in the eyes of society (a powerful metaphor in 1950 I think you’ll agree). So whack that in your peace pipe! – Couch

Read The Signs

September 10, 2008 By: admin Category: Art No Comments →

4_kidacne3-01.jpgKid Acne gave us a shout to let us know he’s just taken part in a fake road sign project in Lyon. Entitled ‘Panos 2013′, 100 fake road signs painted by a whole bunch of artists were put up all around the city and you can see the lot here. Ackers chose a smurf for one of his decals, good stuff, we love smurfs

Paint Not Pen

September 05, 2008 By: admin Category: Art No Comments →

jago.jpg Scrawler extraordinaire Mr Jago seems to have ditched the pens in favour of the paint for his latest exhibition. Running at London’s Stolen Space gallery from the 12th to the 28th of September expect all manner of wish-washy media types to be quaffing free grog and talking utter, utter shite on the opening night.
