I can’t remember how I found this video, but it was probably a stormy night and I was trapped in doors with nothing but a cross-bow that I had bought for £25.00 from the Army and Navy store down the road. Well, anyway the power was out, I was in my make shift tent, hunting mice; when all of a sudden…the power came back on and firefox restored my session and it went straight to youtube and this video was right there on my desktop! There are lots of vices in the world. Some are more acceptable than others, but every vice has a maudlin stigma attached to it, one way or the other. Smoking and drinking are acceptable, and so are drugs depending on the circles you move in; but some people just will not tolerate excessive drinking of energy drinks. There are all types of things wrong with them (any more than 8 cans and your heartbeat goes funny and not ha-ha funny either), but if we were’nt supposed to drink them, they wouldn’t be so tasty. This sound track is soooo good, that it actually helps you follow the story. It’s a mixture of 90s hip-hop (A Tribe Called Quest, Notorious B.I.G) along with Sir Ben Kingsley’s character’s 60’s collection (some Neil Young and possibly some Grateful Dead). Teenager Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) is a drug dealer, he doesn’t like his life, he can’t get laid and he isn’t very popular. I probably wouldn’t like him either if I met him; he seems like a bit of a pussy (cat). Sir Ben Kingsley is his psychiatrist, their relationship grows throughout the movie, and you get a warm fuzzy feeling when you know they’re true blue buddies. Mary Kate Olsen has a cameo as a weird hippy chick, and Kingsley sorts her out pretty quickly (not psychologically I might add and in a bar too) and she isn’t seen again, which is very suspicious. Had I made this movie I think there would have been a bit more violence, a bit more Mary Kate and possibly, a speedboat chase in there somewhere; but I didn’t make this movie and as it stands, it’s a real metaphor for dealing with the bad, so you can appreciate the good even more - Couch

From now until the the 5^th of October you have yet another reason to visit Germany, yes it’s Oktoberfest. Granted I suppose you could just get really pissed and pretend you’re at this year’s traditional beer festival at home, but it wouldn’t be the same. The festival has 14 tents, all in the name of adding variation to the true goal of any beer fest, which is to get absolutely smashed and try your luck with the feisty locals or beer girls!

 Anyways as I was saying, there are 14 tents with everything you could ever want to accompany your beer and bratwurst, from hip-hop to rock, and I’m pretty sure there will be some sketchy local music and even some Morris dancing, too. We’ve been listening to their album Think for the last couple of weeks and lo and behold now Lovvers have gone and sent us a video. Good lads. 

I have a friend called Lucifer (his real name is something like Matthew) and he runs around like a big goth, acting like hair metal didn’t end when the 80s did. He has long hair and wears make up, which isn’t that cool, but he listens to Skid Row, who are, so I suppose he’s alright really. This is for him, and you - Couch

Train stations are horrible places at the best of times. Sweaty carriages full of people, people you would gladly sacrifice just to have a seat. Trains are always late and there is always someone who wants to rob your phone. But at least in Japan they make it look a bit nicer, making Astro-boy from 138,000 re-used train tickets for Tokyo’s new Fukutoshin subway line. I don’t really know where that is in Japan, but it’s still pretty cool because it was done by volunteers, for nowt!

Now a quick history lesson, Astro-Boy was the first creation of the popular genre that is now known as Anime. He had pretty standard powers, super hearing, super strength and flight, but no one really cared because he was a robot, which made him a leper in the eyes of society (a powerful metaphor in 1950 I think you’ll agree). So whack that in your peace pipe! – Couch
